Top 12 Trigs

Back in 2017, Dafydd organised a special trigpoint-themed walking festival in his hometown called Trigaron 17. All the walks involved reaching the five most prominent trigpoints near Tregaron and since then he's been fascinated by them.

He's even built a full-spec trig point in his garden.

Here are a list of his favourite trig points in the Cambrian Mountains of Wales with route details, images and apres-walk refreshments.

Pumlumon Fawr - Ponterwyd

The highest peak in the Cambrian Mountains and a great place both at sunrise through to sunset and beyond.

Walk from the Victorian reservoirs and reach this summit that could do with come welcome company.

This is a very quiet peak that can be approached from the world-famous village.

Drygarn Fawr - Abergwesyn

Probably one of the best of this bunch of if we had to choose. A sunrise walk is recommended, plus there are two routes.

Walks starts from the 12th Century Strata Florida Abbey, crosses the Afon Teifi and head up to the Iron Age hillfort.

Y Gamriw - Llanafan Fawr

Summit surrounded by  Bronze Age cairns and standing stones and open moorland awaits the adventurous.
